Position Controller

The Position Controller is designed for Positioner Stop and Feeder applications.  The control can automatically position to different lengths, under two types of program control.  It can also be operated in Manual mode where the desired position is simply entered on the console.

This is a true CNC controller which can be programmed and operated using industry standard ISO code (G & M codes), or by using the Position List Table programming feature.  Each Position List table can have up to 10 line entries, and 50 of these tables can be stored in the controller.  Each line entry in the table consists of Position and Quantity.

Result?   Accuracy and speed of material positioning is assured.  No time is lost having to check and recheck measurements.  It all adds up to a higher level of productivity and big savings in time and money - every day.

Description and Features

bullet

Operator Console is machined out of solid aluminum and features a durable, user friendly membrane keypad.

bullet

Controller is programmed either by using the industry standard ISO code (G & M codes), or by using the Position List programming feature.

bullet

Controller uses standard 120 VAC single phase power.

bullet

Controller functions in English (inches) or Metric (mm) units.

bullet

Left or right hand configuration parameter allows the unit to be installed to the left or to the right of the workstation.

bullet

The Console provides full program Editing functions.  Dry Run and Optional Stop features are provided as well as Single Step mode.

bullet

There are two displays: One large 8 digit 7-segment display and one 4x20 character backlit LCD display.

bullet

Three I/O ports can be directly controlled from Console keys (F1, F2, F3) as well as by the programs.

bullet

Four different Counters are maintained. These Counters can be reset from the Console, or from the programs.  The Part counter is continuously displayed on the Console for availability to the Operator.  The Total Actuation counter (cut, drill, punch, etc.), the List Counter (number of times the Position List has been executed), and the Program Cycle counter (number of times the G & M code programs have been executed) are accessible and maintained by the Supervisor.

bullet

Counter functions are accessible in manual increment mode as well as from all program modes.

bullet

There is an -10VDC to +10VDC industry standard interface analog output port used to control the servo motor for the linear axis.

bullet

There are 3 communication ports: One RS-232 and two RS-485.

bullet

Output I/O: There are 14 relay contact outputs
(7 assigned, 7 free, 10 under M code control)

bullet

Input I/O: There are 22 opto-isolated inputs
(10 assigned, 12 free, 15 under M code control)

bullet

Industry standard Quadrature encoder ports: One is provided as standard and three are optionally available.

bullet

Write and download programs from any PC to the controller's PC port (RS-232).  The IBM PC host download program is included with the unit.

bullet

Program memory is stored in EEPROM circuits.  Optionally, additional EEPROM circuits can be added for additional program storage space.  Standard capacity is configurable; such as 55 programs of 25 lines or 11 programs of 125 lines, etc. This capacity can be increased.

bullet

The supervisor mode, protected by a physical key lock, is used for modifying traverse speeds and acceleration parameters.

bullet

Parameter settings are provided for specifying system values such as zero position, offsets and left hand or right hand operation as related to the workstation.

bullet

Parameters for offsets are automatically calculated in the distance that the stop or the material is to be moved.

bullet

Several other parameters are provided for at installation time and are automatically calculated, where required, when the material or the Stop is to be moved.

bullet

An Emergency Stop (E Stop) switch is located on the Console as well as an "I/O" input port to permit the installation of additional E Stop switches.

bullet

Remote synchronization of the Position Controller with another controller is possible through three I/O ports allowing for Remote Start, Remote Stop, and Operation Complete.
